Intro to 3D Modeling in Blender This workshop is a beginner-friendly introduction to Blender, a free 3D modeling program. Over three classes (9 hours total), you will learn how to build objects from basic shapes, refine their forms, and add color and textures to bring them to life. Each class combines short presentations, live demonstrations and hands-on exercises, where you will learn by doing. No prior experience in Blender is required. What to bring: Your own laptop with Blender installed. Class #1: Introduction to Blender's interface and controls. Saturday, November 7th at 2-5PMLearn how to navigate the 3D workspace, move and shape objects, and build more complex forms from simple geometric shapes. You will learn how to use a mesh and create good topology.Class #2: Refine your model.Saturday, November 14th at 2-5PMLearn how to smooth and refine the shapes you create. We’ll explore beveling, which softens sharp edges; subdivision, which makes models look smoother; and normals, which help Blender determine how light interacts with a surface.Class #3: Add color and texture.Saturday, November 21st at 2-5PMYou’ll learn the basics of UV mapping, which helps you apply images and textures to a 3D object. Finally, you’ll export your finished model and learn how to use it in future projects.
