doing what I want to see and seeing what I want to do This workshop investigates the transition from institutional education to independent artistic practice through the theme “doing what I want to see and seeing what I want to do.” It invites creative persons from any discipline to examine what they bring out of school—methods, assumptions, strengths, and tensions—and to identify which of these elements genuinely support their developing artistic aims. Through reflection and practical discussions, participants clarify their intentions and explore how personal direction takes shape outside institutional frameworks. During the workshop, Mikolaj Rytowski will present the process behind “the snare drum project” presented at Particle + Wave Festival. The second part is a communal guided sonic improvisation open to all disciplines. Rather than creating a piece, participants collectively explore sound as a way of listening, sensing, and responding to their environment. The session focuses on presence, silence, attention, and unfamiliar modes of sound-making, offering a space to discover new forms of awareness and interaction. The workshop is open to anyone interested, and an artistic education or background is not required. sign up WHEN: Thursday, March 5th at 6-9PMWHERE: EMMEDIA, 2005 10th Avenue SW, Calgary Alberta Canada T3C 0K4PRICE: $30INSTRUCTOR: Mikolaj Rytowski
