EMMEDIA IS OPEN FOR APPLICATIONS FOR THE 10TH PARTICLE + WAVE Submit your applicationParticle+Wave Media Arts Festival Local, national and international artists are invited to submit proposals for the special 10th anniversary edition of Particle+Wave, EMMEDIA’s annual, experimental media arts festival. EMMEDIA encourages the submission of innovative proposals in media art, audiovisual performances, exhibitions, films, videos, sound works, computer-based art, VR, AI, visual presentations, VJing, projection-mapping and anything else you can dream up in the diverse, interdisciplinary and ever-expanding field of Media Art. Since 2012, Particle+Wave has been taking the pulse of the Media Arts landscape yearly, showcasing experimental, challenging, and boundary-pushing works. Review ProcedureProposals for Particle+Wave are selected through a peer review process by EMMEDIA’s Programming Committee. The Committee consists of local artists, writers, and curators who have extensive and varied media arts backgrounds. Proposals will be selected based on consideration of the following criteria: artistic merit of the proposed project, fit with the EMMEDIA’s mandate, feasibility of the proposed budget, and the ability of EMMEDIA in the partnerships we forge to provide appropriate space/support for the project. Past festivals have included partnerships with galleries, theatres, businesses, a science center, libraries, public parks and production centres.All submissions must include the following: Proposal (2 pages max): clearly describe the proposed exhibition or project. Provide details about your spatial and material requirements, including equipment needs. Explain what kind of venue is best suited to your proposed work (gallery, theatre, off-site, public space, etc.). Artist statement (½ - 1 page max) Curriculum Vitae (3 pages max): Include accurate contact information and describe your artistic background. (e.g. education, grants, scholarships or awards received, previous exhibitions or performances, commissions, professional memberships, press, critical writing etc.) Budget: Provide a detailed budget that explains the costs involved in presenting your project. Budget lines may include travel, accommodation, artist fees, volunteer honorariums, material and production costs, equipment rentals, shipping expenses, etc. Contingent on sufficient funding, EMMEDIA will cover artist travel/shipping, accommodation and per diems, as well as pay artist and speaker fees according to CARFAC’s Fee Schedule. Support for production costs will generally be the responsibility of the artist. Additional costs will be negotiated on a case- by-case basis. Support Material includes: a portfolio of maximum 15 numbered digital images or maximum 3 video or audio files. Images should be .jpeg files, 1024 pixels on the longest side, 72 dpi, and no larger than 1MB per file. Video or audio files should have a combined total of no more than 10 minutes in length. Links to personal websites or video hosting websites, such as Vimeo and YouTube, are acceptable formats. (Please make sure all links work.) a corresponding Documentation List with artist name, title, date, medium and dimensions (if applicable). (optional) up to 2 other items of relevant support material (i.e. diagrams, articles, reviews, press clippings). These should only be provided if they relate directly to your proposal.
