EMMEDIA is proud to present the 6th PARTICLE + WAVE Media Arts Festival, a unique 3-day event that will celebrate the critical innovation and creativity present in the media arts community. This festival will showcase an art form that by it’s very nature, is constantly evolving and growing with the integration of ever-changing technological processes. Screenings, installations and live performances by local, national and international artists will be showcased in Calgary.

PARTICLE + WAVE: Screening Program
Location: Calgary Society of Independent Filmmakers – #100, 1725 10 Ave SW (Back Alley Entrance)

Time: 7:30 – 9:30PM (Doors open at 7PM)
Tickets: $10 in advance / $15 at the door

Featuring a performance by Ghostkeeper w/ Joe Kelly (Calgary) and films by Stephanie Barber (USA), Alana Bartol (Calgary), Esther Cheung (Canada), Luca Cioci (USA), Jack Cochran & Pamela Falkenberg (USA), Jennifer Dysart (Canada), Emmanuel Fraisse (France), Yuri Muraoka (Japan), Thadeusz Tischbein (Germany), and Nick White (Canada).

EMMEDIA is proud to present this year’s screening program for PARTICLE + WAVE that features filmmakers from across Canada and around the world that experiment with narratives, mediums and perspectives. This year’s program explores the intimate connection between our personal relationships within the foreign and familiar, natural and man-made landscapes.

Featuring works by Laura Anzola (Calgary), Brad Necyk (Edmonton), and Aran Wilkinson-Blanc (Calgary).

The PARTICLE + WAVE exhibition features Albertan artists that utilize television screens and monitors in different ways, to question our current relationships with social media, our understanding of visible and invisible borders, and feelings of “solastalgia” as we enter an unpredictable future.

PARTICLE + WAVE: Feature Night
Location: Festival Hall – 1215 10th Ave SE
Saturday, February 1, 2020

Tickets: $15 in advance/ $20 at the door

Featuring performances by Matthieu Hallé (Ottawa) & Chris Dadge (Calgary), Mat Lindenberg (Seattle/Banff), Tasman Richardson (Toronto) and a film installation by Dawn George (Halifax).

On the feature night of PARTICLE + WAVE, we explore the many facets of media arts, including film, audio, video, animation and digital interfaces. Be immersed in media arts with performances incorporating projections and soundscapes mixed live before your eyes or take part in an interactive gameshow where you are the live audience. This is a night that showcases the ever-changing technological tools and processes, and the artists who utilize them in amazingly creative ways.
