Many of our programmed events are accompanied by commissioned essays by local writers (emerging through established). These are published on a per-project basis and at times are included in Handheld Media magazine.

In 2009, EMMEDIA invited renowned artist, curator and writer David Garneau to facilitate a 6-month intensive writing workshop. Working closely with participants, Garneau will mentor the writing of texts that critically respond to works in, or are otherwise inspired by, our CRASH! thematic. The resulting texts will be compiled in a publication that will be launched in September, at the conclusion of the CRASH! thematic.
