The Vernal Equinox Observation invites guests to celebrate the coming spring! Marking the final season of Joshua Fraser’s year as artist in residence at EMMEDIA, spring is the season of renewal and rebirth. The lessons from the past year have had the winter to set in and the plans made in that time are brimming in anticipation of longer days.

An immersive space featuring icons of spring will support musical meditations about the season. These meditations will be guided by Beggars (Ian Maclean and Patrick Seager) and Citadel (Joshua Fraser).

Joshua Fraser is a multidisciplinary artist born and raised in Calgary. Fraser utilizes a broad array of methods towards his overarching goal: the facilitation of saturated emotional transference. This focus has emerged from an ever-increasing relationship with metaphysical and neo-pagan ideals and practices. Fraser’s work comes together as a determined pursuit striving to unite, reassure, and encourage viewers by championing the resilience of the human spirit.

This project was developed through the support of the EMMEDIA Artist in Residence program.

LOCAL ARTIST IN RESIDENCE PROGRAM (AIR)

Each year, local artists are selected to create new works using EMMEDIA’s facilities. We encourage independent creative projects and research that explore the technologies of audio, video and new media.
