Diversity Conscious Lighting & Makeup

In this 3-hour workshop, you will receive both theoretical and practical knowledge on how different skin tones respond to colour and luminosity. We will be working with live models to give you a hands-on understanding of the lesson as well as delving into experiences that the instructors have had on sets like Van Helsing, Heartland, and Wynonna Earp.

About Our Instructors:

Jenni Macdonald has been involved in the film community since 2010. She attended SAIT for the Film and Video Production Program where she learned more about film, camera and lighting techniques. Jenni continued on to Vancouver Film School where she specialized in Makeup Design. She competed in 6 international makeup competitions for prosthetic character makeup and went on to work in the makeup department as a part of both IATSE 212 and 891. She lived and worked in Vancouver on shows such as The Magicians and Van Helsing along with working on commercials, photoshoots, and weddings. Jenni continues to be passionate about makeup design in whichever form it may be.

Stella Minae Park has been involved in the film industry since 2014. She attended SAIT for Film and Video Production as well as UCalgary for Communications and Media Studies. In 2015, she became a lamp-op in IATSE local 212 and has worked on projects such as Heartland and Wynonna Earp. In the time she has been active in the film community, Stella has gained a wealth of knowledge and experience that she continues to build on with each project she takes part in.
