WHOLE LOTTA LOVE

REGISTRATION DEADLINE: October 11, 2011 (Seats are limited, first come first serve)

ABOUT THE CRITICAL WRITING WORKSHOP:

Frey’s workshop introduces writers to a critical-creative approach to article writing in order to foster the evolution of critical discourse around media art in Calgary. The workshop focuses on practical approaches to critical writing and intends to see students finish the weekend with a completed and peer-reviewed draft in hand that may be developed further over a period of a month with our editor/mentor, Jennifer McVeigh, for submission to EMMEDIA’s annual anthology based on the 2010/2011 programming theme, GRAIN. For more information on GRAIN and our programming, please click here. We encourage participants to bring their own laptops for word processing and/or pens and notebooks. There will be access to printers for drafts.

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR:

Chris Frey earned a PhD at McGill University. His research includes study of images of body marks and the grotesque in Canadian, First Nations and World literatures. He currently teaches critical-creative thinking, reading and writing in the Liberal Studies Department at the Alberta College of Art and Design. He is one of the college’s resident specialists on narrative theory and practice.
